...is the last remaining intact ahupua`a on O`ahu. It is currently designated as a State Park. The State condemned the valley in 1966 in order to prevent the landowner from developing the area. However, since the State now owns the land, it now has a contentious relationship with the residents of the valley, many of whom are descendants of the original Kuleana owners who were bought out by Mary Foster (a member of one of the wealthiest families on O`ahu) in the 1940s.
